Range Report 300 WINMAG Question

I recieved a box of 300WINMAG today. The box is marked:
" Use only in McMillan M86 Bolt Action Rifles"
Caliber 300 Winchester
185 Grain Bullet.

I have searched for about an hour on here but I guess I am missing the info. Can someone tell me about this load. Thanks.

Have not seen those. Are they handloads? What is the OAL on the rounds?

National match,

I cannot find my sources either. But what I remember reading it was ammo built for the now defunct Harris McMillan M86 rifle in 300 win mag. The ammo was built around the 185 gr Lapua, for military uses/tests of some kind.

That's all I can remember, nor can I google the details. Maybe give Mcmillan a call?

I am with Bob. I remember reading something about the 185 Lapua being used in some military test but no particulars. I think HSM is loading the same load now as well.

I was wrong, it was for the MK 248 MOD 1 220 gr.

I believe this was more than just a test round. I havent had a chance to shoot it yet but will wring it out next monday and see how they do. If anyone has more info I would love to get it. Thanks.

Is it in a white box? if so you have one version of the A191.

It's probably loaded hot as hell and loaded long for A191 chambered guns. In a long throated gun they might be alright, but in a short throat they may be a little.. warm.
