Started a new build on a 300WM and am trying to decide on barrel length. 26" is the minimum that I will go, but I really want to be a bit longer at probably 27 or 28". Is anyone running this length barrel and if so what are your thoughts? Weight is not a concern with this set up? If you are not running these lengths, what are you running?

Run it at 28" to start with. If you dont like it you can always cut it off. My 7/300wsm is 27" plus a brake.

Depends on your purpose. I was able to get 3050 fps out of a 26" Rock barrel using RL22 and 210 Berger VLDs with no pressure signs, thats a flat shooting combo and 26" is still managable. With the right powder andbullet combo, I dont know if you would get a significant gain from an extra inch or two over the 26" tube, just my .02

Mine started out at 29 1/2 inches. I"ve set it back a couple times which help extend the live of the barrel.
I mainly wanted it long because I shoot it about half the time with iron sights, I like the longer sight radius for 1000 yard shooting.
Its heavy, but I dont pack it any farther then to the firing line from the pickup.

I think I have decided to leave the blank at 28".
