300 WM suppressor on a .308???

Just like the title says...

If I bought an oversized suppressor so I could use it in the future if I went up in caliber, would there be any downside besides weight and size?

+1, for example Gemtech's Sandstorm is rated for .300 WM or lesser

If a .30 cal can is rated for 300 mag, you will be fine. I think that is what you are asking, but not sure. It would be the same inside diameter.

300WM to 308 isnt going UP in caliber.

308 to 300WM is UP.

If the supressor of rated for 300WM pressure, using it on 308 is fine.

Like everyone said it will be fine. I have a 338 Surefire can I use on my .308. Works fine.

Just make sure to get yourself a TAB Gear suppressor cover.

Using a 308 in a suppressor designed for .300 wm should be ok.

Just like using a .260 remington for a .308 will work, perhaps not optimally, but it will still work.

To state the obvious: going up in caliber, say a 308 in a .223 or .223 in a 22 LR, would be a one way trip...in a bad way. Real bad.

I didn't word that quite right but this is the info I was looking for, thanks for the input guys.

I own a .308 but only want to buy a can that will be flexible. I am building a .260 which I know a 30 caliber can will adequately work with. But I will probably delve into a magnum at some point in the future (maybe 264 or 7 win mag?) and I figure why not spend the extra 100-200 bucks now and have a can that will work on all 3?

I've shot both Surefire and AAC .338 suppressors on .308's without any accuracy issues whatsoever.

Thats why I bought a 30P-1 TBAC. Rated for .300WM and I'll use it on my .300WM and also on my .308.
