I've seen it listed in differnet reloading books with large rifle primers and other boods with magnum large rifle primers. Which one is right? For example, 65 grains of 4350 for 180gr bullets.

Re: 300 WSM: standard or magnum primers?

Magnum or not depends on what kind of powder you will use :
fast burn rate -> standard primer
slow burn rate -> magnum primer

the choice of powder depends on bullet weight versus case capacity.

4350 is quite slow and you have to well inflame a large amount of powder, so maybe magnum primer.

Check your SD, to see if 65gr of 4350 prefers magnum or standard primer.

Be carefull, i'm not an expert of 4350, but 65gr behind a 180gr bullet seems to be a hot combo.

Check the manufacturer recommandations : max load is 65gr !

+1 sounds hot.
I always use magnum primers in both mine and my brothers WSM, 63.0 gr of H414 and either a 190smk or 180gr btsp.
