What powder combo does one need to look at for decent velocity out of a 300blk? Goal is 2000-2100fps with a 110gr Vmax out of an 8.3" barrel suppressed. I was thinking along the line of conventional powders i'd use for other rounds that give a solid velocity bump like 8208 and 2000mr but i'm not quite sure the burn rate will be fast enough in that short of a barrel.

Hmmm thats a pretty high speed goal for a 8" barrel. I would have suggested CFE BLK right off the bat for a blackout but I think you might get topped out on speed at about 1900 fps with it. Make it a 16" and you would hit your speed goal no problem. I dont think the more conventional rifle powders would do what you want fast enough with a pipe that short.

Hodgdons site makes it look like lil gun may be your best bet to make your speed htough I would have guessed H110 off the top of my head. A 16" barrel used so a bit of adjustment is necessary but its the only thing producing more speed than cfe blk.

Yeah i'm getting that feeling as well. Was just looking at CFE numbers that a guy chrono'd on his 8" 300blk with CFE topped at 1900 with the 110gr vmax. I thought about maybe going 9" or 10" but hell i couldn't hardly find a barrel and in the wake of the shootings i feel the market is about to go into panic mode again.

I've seen some 2000-2100fps ranges that people claim with their short guns but idk how safe that is. I've never really pushed a semi like i do my bolt guns and certainly am more inexperienced when it comes to semis.

Are you looking at the Johnnys reloading bench videos on you tube?

In this the lilgun looks to be nerfed by the short barrel in comparison to the H100/W296

In this one her gets some more velocity data and says that the H110/W296 brass looks totally fine

I use W296 in the BLK with good results. I don't shoot the 110 VMax, but shoot the TAC-TX Barnes and have loaded 125s and 130s with the 296 to mid 2100s with a 10.3" barrel.

I use h110 with the 110gr vmax in my 300blk sbr. Its got a 8.2” noveske with a thunderbeast ultra 7 on the end. With 18.2gr im getting 1970ish.... it could be pushed harder but its accurate and im not shooting 1000 yards with this gun.

Goal is 2000+ i know i'm not shooting distance with it but i'd like to be okay to take a yote at 400 and in. 400yds being the absolute worse scenario. Mainly building this pistol for truck/tractor gun when a yote is stupid enough to look at me on the farm and home defense to some extent. Had someone break in our house while i was here at the med center and dad went upstairs with the Glock. Don't get me wrong i'd think the pistol is fine i just know he's not that proficient with it.

    I like lil gun

What kind of velocity are you getting.

    Good afternoon 5RWill,

For my 9" Ballistic Advantage barrel I am using 19.5g of H110 for about 2050fps with a Barnes 110gr TAC-TX. This was worked up slowly and shows no pressure signs in my gun. Burns clean, but quite a bit of face gas when suppressed which is not a deal breaker for me since it is a hunting only round and not for volume shooting or plinking because those dang bullets are expensive. Using standard gas block, pistol length gas, standard BCG, carbine buffer and spring. Runs reliably with no problems. I am 100% sure the face gas would be fixed with an adjustable gas block but I don't feel like screwing around with that when it works just fine the way it is with subs and supers.

    Semper Fidelis,
    Aaron
