Wish we could start a new stick that only has 300WSM Data. The 300WM-300WSM thread is a little aggravating. Off my soap box.
I just had TS Customs spin up a barrel for my hunting rig. Chambered 300WSM, 22" long, throated for 215 Hybrids to run in my LP mid action.
My question is what is the best powder to run the heavy's in a shorter barrel. Have plenty of H1000 and a little H4350.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you can find some RL16 I'd give that a try as I've heard good reports about it, similar burn rate to H4350.
I was using H4831SC in my 30" barrel 300 WSM 1K BR rifle with the 215's but switched to RL23 which has a similar burn rate but gave me better groups, lower ES/SD's and slightly higher velocity at 2885 fps while using 2 grs less.

If your looking for higher velocities with heavy bullets from short barrels, I recommend RL26 if you can find it.

I have RL16 and 26 on back order. Also thinking of Vit N560. Talked to several smiths and they all recommended it as well as the others you guys have thrown out. I was really hoping that someone was shooting the 215 heavy's in a mid length action and had some good data. Not expecting much over 2800 MV with the 22" barrel unless i get an unusually fast barrel.
By the way Benchmark has just start making their own in house carbon wrapped barrels. That is what I got coming so I will be very interested in getting it in hand.

I shoot the 230g ATips out of my 28" benchmark MTU. Standard, bluprinted R700 SA.

67.7g H1000 (compressed)

Something ive found to work great in my 300wsm hunting rig. And its available everywhere, all the time.

Its a 20" proof.

Interested to hear some more loads. The powder I have all seem to be good options, but which is the best for a short barrel.
I have rl26, rl16,h1000 and h4350.

I’m also have a 300 wsm built off a Tikka action. Benchmark barrel 24”, 1-9.5 twist. I’m planning on using 200 or 212 eld x. After doing some research, I’m planning on using H4831sc starting at 63 grains and moving up. H1000 appears too slow for the smaller capacity of the wsm, from what I’ve been told.
I have H4350, but I think once you get into the 200 grain and up bullets, a slower powder seems to be preferred. Again, just what I gathered, haven’t loaded for it yet.

Any more loads for 20” barrels? I’m looking to get a 20” Proof and shoot 200gr ELDXs for hunting.
With a 22” barrel using H4831sc I’m getting 2820 fps with 212 eld-x. That’s with a can. It was 2780 without the can.
You should be able to get in the 2800 fps range using 200’s and a 20” barrel. I wanted to test some other powders but it’s shooting so well and other powders are hard to come by so just sticking with this load.

I’m about to start loading for wsm once I get my barrel on, but Staball and Superformance look like they’ll yield good velocities. H4350, H100v, h4831 and everything around that burn rate could be worth a test

I’m in the 300WSM game now. I have a 20” Proof Barrel in bound. I’m going to run out he 200ELDX bullets and use a MDT magazine. I may run them at 2.9” OAL. I have H4350. What loads are folks running with that powder and bullet combo? Any recommendations on primers? In the past I’ve run FGMM for my 6.5CM.
