(300YARD), Bolt-Action, 6groups, 30round SHOOTOUT!

Sorry I am not able to burn the needed 30 rounds to enter the contest. My ammo budget is tight right now. Here are two 5 round targets fired from my .338 LM at 1" dots at 300 yards. This Surgeon rifle is a pleasure to shoot. Keep up the good work all!

The winner will need to PM me their name, shipping address, email, and what t-shirt options they want as listed above & I will forward this info to TacticaltshirtsREP once I announce a winner so he can send you the tshirt in the mail. Thank you once again to marky @ tactical-tshirts! Winner = grand prize winner as listed in the OP,,,,, OR once the top ten fills up & 5 people are listed in the previous leader boards. This is all for fun & is subject to change FYI! Keep it honest & keep it fun & this will hopefully continue into the future!

I shot the challenge again today, but with my 223. It's a Rem 700 with 28" HV Bartlein, sitting in a Manners T6A. NF NXS MOAR reticle on top. I'm shooting Lapua brass with 24.5 gr of Varget behind a 80 gr SMK.

I measured outside to outside and subtracted .224. Groups were 1.866, 2.211, 1.755, 1.428, 1.637, 1.538. That's averages to 1.739

The furthest round landed at 1.875.

Argghh, I've been trying to get in these shoots forever seems like, but like every day off here in West NC it's pouring snow and a wind chill of -24 degrees.
I'M SICK OF WINTER

Finally got out to shoot the 300yd challenge today. Setup a target in the high desert north of Phoenix, about 4500ft elevation. All 30 shots fired were on the target including my cold bore shot. Kept a pretty good pace to get it done before dark; the last two groups were after sundown. Temp was dropping rapidly from 57F to 45F, which caused group 5 to run low so I added .1 mil for group 6. The powder in the Swiss P factory ammo is very temp sensitive and my initial velocity estimate was too high so group 1 came in .3 mil low.

Rifle is an AI AWM 300 Win Mag. Scope is the XM2010 Leupold Mk4 6.5-20x50 mil/mil TMR 34mm tube. Leupold Mk4 steel rings. Shot prone off the AI bipod and monopod.

Groups were 2.355" (damn cold bore flyer) + 1.222" (freak 4-rd cloverleaf) + 1.803" + 1.836" + 1.598" + 1.636" = 10.45" / 6 = 1.742" Average (.554 MOA)

Best group was 1.222" (.39 MOA)

So far with the Swiss P 220gr factory ammo this gun has been a consistent .6 MOA performer and it was right there on every group today except for the cold bore shot and the lucky 1.222" group.

you're on the boards! nice shooting and nice rifle! looking good!

Thanks! It was a blast! And it was fun to get the rifle out after I just painted it about 10 days ago. I'm strangely proud of my cheap Rust-Oleum camo job on a $9,000 rig. Lol

lord, I wish I could get outside and go shooting! no shit, it has been negative temps in northern Wisconsin for damn near the last 1-1/2 months.... no shit, it was below neg 40 a few days ago with wind chill. One night I took one full gallon of really hot water and threw it up in the air off my front porch and not a single drop of water hit the ground... the entire gallon of hot water evaporated!

That is brutal. Time to start spending the winter in Phoenix like all the other snowbirds.

This looks like a lot of fun, I may be able to try it today. If not today soon definitely.

Your 1.222 group would been even more sick if it wasnt for the somewhat flier.

True, but if I'd put all five in a cloverleaf I'd be wondering why in the hell I can't shoot .2 MOA all the time. Lol

I would of tried again on a different day, but sense Im happy with my best group, and after all the effort I decided to post todays results. I'm confident I can improve my average on another day. I think next time I will get out earlier and shoot this challenge twice, with rifles 308 and 7RM both.
Thanks for the challenge I enjoyed it a lot!
Are we allowed multiple entries?
