Went west this weekend to do a little dove hunting and the birds were flying great! We all limited out on the doves fairly quickly every day.
While I was sitting next to a pond I started looking at the various tracks and noticed some big hog tracks! So I decided to come back after dinner and see what would show up. As I pulled in a big shaggy boar was already there and busted me. He made it to the mesquite brush before I could react, But then I see another hog coming down a cow trail straight to the pond. When he gets to about 70-80 yards I take my shot and get a loud CLICK and the hog stops and looks right at me! Oh no I had let several people look at the rifle earlier and unloaded it. So I racked a round in the chamber and he was still there yay! I took my shot and he went down DRT hit him just below the ear.

He measured just below 51" heart girth so 305 pounds! I had been up since 5:30 am and I was tired did not do the best job of proping him up for the pictures and they definitely do not do him justice but here they are.

Made a little dove hunt video also for the people I was hunting with. Of course no night vision but I thought it came out pretty nice.

I have been reading many posts in this category as I am in the market for NV. All new to me. Your videos and posts are quite informative and straight up, so to speak. I must ask, did you resolve the "click not boom" issue? I have been there, while on the firing line and it was, uh....uh....anywho, once again great post and do these hogs render chops, ribs and or bacon? Sorry if I got off track. Good luck and good shooting!

The click no boom was me unloading the rifle to show off the new rifle just before the hunt. I put the mag back in and did not chamber a round DOH! In the winter I take the back straps from the sows! Pork wrapped in bacon!

Holy guacamole! I thought that kind of pig porn was banned from this site!!! Got any more? How many arteries clogged up just from viewing those pics? I heard that pigs are making their way into southern Ohio. I'd like to check that out, but I reckon' that they'll put out Toledo water for the hogs and that will take care of that! Ha! Good looking kit! Hubble telescope on that rifle? :)
