.308, 16" barrel = huge muzzle blast!!!

What would be the best load for a 16" barrel if you were trying to limit muzzle blast? Is this even possible to do and or lessen the signature. I live in Calli and we can't use any type of flash suppression.

I shoot 40.8 grains of Varget behind a 165 SST or 168 SMK. I don't notice much of any muzzle blast out of my 20" barrel. It is a pretty low pressure load.

What kind of suppressor brake is on it now? What rifle is it?

I don't know where you get your information from, but you CAN use flash suppresors in California. You just need to make sure that your rifle is in a fixed magazine configuration if it is semi-automatic.

It's a Saiga .308 that I modified, it's not a fixed magazine.

Thanks, I'll take a look at the load. I have a bunch of 155 grain Scenar I'd like to use up maybe I'll plug the load into my program and see how it'll perform on paper and move forward.
