308 ... 7.62x51??? uhhh .223...5.56??

Okay...

My father has taught me everything but, any man could be wrong, I have been told that a .308 is different then 7.62 and 5.56 is different then .223....

so when I went to by a box of each, the counter guy handed me 7.62 and 5.56.. i refused them.. and i wanted .308 and .223... he said I was wrong and that I was running on a wives tail...

i do not want to be the range guy who doesnt know his ish.. so wats true?

Find a new gun shop because while the differences are minor, there are still differences and he should know that. He says it was an old wives tale.... well for once I'll say he should be listening to his wife.
