like the title says does the .22lr round have similar drop and wind corrections as a .308 at 1000 yards? according to online calculators it seems similar. i know its not the real thing but if this idea has any truth then it would be a great way to train and save mucho money. any input is great and sorry if this is not the right place to post this!

Yes and no, apples and oranges. Trainer will help mucho. Recoil and wind reading will vary. The barrel time is so much greater with the .22. Follow though is much more important with it. That training will yield improvements with the big gun. Not all of the little gun transfers to the biggie however. Natural positioning and recoil control is so much of the big gun shooting. Have fun.

+1 on follow through being the greatest training aspect for me when using a rimfire. The lack of recoil and noise will allow your to see a lot of mistakes that are masked by recoil.

I haven't shot my 22 at 300 but the drop on the 308 is in the low to mid 30MOA range depending on how hard you are driving them and what bullet you are loading. (closer to 30MOA with a 155gn and 34-36 with 185s or 175s)

I can see how a lot of things would not carry over but it would be very interesting to see. My question is how stable is the bullet at that point?
