As I'm doing my build, I'm trying to keep track of weight more or less. Can anyone give me an idea of what a .308 BCG (including the bolt of course) weighs?

Yes, they do charge a lot for it. Part of building a lighter rifle and from what I understand a bit smoother function and a better bolt. I'll have a Seekins adjustable gas block.

I do appreciate the advice though...helps avoid overlooking anything important.

What's your weight goal (if there's a goal instead of just an accounting of weight), and what's your end duty for this weapon?

I've been trying to come up with a few good ways of offsetting some weight for the suppressor I've theoretically got coming, and smoothing out the function of my DPMS...

Re: .308 BCG weight

Without being utterly ridiculous and compromising reasonable reliability, I'm trying to get down to as little as 7.5 lbs. This is a rifle meant for hunting and medium distance (300-600) target shooting. Right now, my best guesstimate is around 7.75.

Re: .308 BCG weight

Aside from weight, I'm really looking forward to a shorter barrel. I don't mind a rifle fully loaded out with scope/bipod hitting 10.5 lbs. or so. But more than that and more than 20" of barrel are not great for working through heavy cover or taking any but prone shots.
