.308 Bullet Seating

So I plan on doing a load development for my rifle in the near future and I will be using the tried and trued Varget and 175 grn Sierra Matchkings. My question is should I use the book recommendation and seat them around 2.800 or should I start them about .020 off the lands?

Hi mate, I can only offer what I do which is follow the Berger reloading manual:
0.010” off lands
0.050” off lands
0.090” off lands
0.130” off lands
Find which of these shoots best, once I have done the OCW for charge weight, then depending on the results maybe tweak by 0.005”

Works for me. others may have a different view
