ok ? i been reading and i have a few issues lee turret press ,
308 lee die set and rem brass. i have loaded pistol ammo for a few years now never had issues till i got to the 308 my brass gets stuck about 3/8 till it hits bottom. i seen many forums talking about it and they al said it was lube i soaked them in lube ,and tried 5 differnt brand name lubes and still had issues . they say it will braks in but i broke the brass from the seat when i was trying to pull one out . after that i tried a few differnt rounds never shot bran spanking new and i tried three rounds shot all had same problems after all the tried and lubs and everything really frustrated with it . anyone help the lee set said 308- 10 i dont know what the issue was but it should not be that hard .wtf , the guide said to put the seat al the way up trun till it made contact and a 1/4 - 3/4 turn and that is what i did i reseat the die three or four times to make sure even pulled the deprimer and adjuster at the top and still had issues . anyone ever come across this issue and was this right or ?

Re: 308 lee dies had to die

Dies get stuck for one reason; poor or improperly appliced case lube.

No set number of die turns procedure for adjusting sizer dies exists, there are too many variables in die and shell holder tolerances, press spring, chamber tolerances, brass hardness and how you actually work the press. The only thing than matters is how the sized cases fit your chamber; make that right and you're done.

Lee's stem retaining system isn't very complex, if you're pulling the expander rod out of the die you don't have the retaining nut tight enough on the stem or you have oil on it, or both.

Look, Morf33,

New guy: Learn to at least write in English so that we can understand what the heck you are trying to say. That includes spelling, punctuation, capitalization....

I agree 100%.If your too lazy or pissed off to type then don't expact proper reply's.
READ the die instruction's on how to remove a stuck case. It's right there.
I had the same problem with my Brand new LEE dies, then I cleaned them in solvent.

Hey...be kind to him...morf33 may be a product of our new generation of teachers. Sorry about that. Morf33...try this...take the die apart and clean it really well. Reassemble it. Go to the drugstore and get a small amount...about 4 ounces of each...of anhydrous lanolin and the same amount of castor oil. Warm the bottles up in a sauce pan of hot water until they are really, really liquid. Mix them up into a gallon of Solox...that is denatured alcohol that you can buy in the nearest Lowe's or Home Depot...or the paint store. Shake like hell...i.e., really, really well and then put some of it into a convenient plastic spray bottle. Put about 50 of your cases into a ZipLok bag. Shake up the bottle of spray and spray the cases in the bag about 4 good squirts. Seal the bag and shake them around a bit and then pour them out onto a clean surface or plastic tray. Let them air dry for a few minutes. Put one tiny squirt into your clean die. Then...Size away. Adjust your die in your press so that it doesn't contact the shell holder, and size the case. Clean it off and try it in your rifle. Chances are it won't close the bolt all the way. Relube the case and turn the die in 1/8th of a turn. Resize that case. Repeat, until all of a sudden, the bolt closes easily. Lock the die there. Resize all your cases at that setting. It really is that easy. Keep the ZipLok until it begins to come apart. After the initial 4 squirts, usually 3 or so is all that is needed. You'll have enough lube for almost the rest of your life. You may need to buy new spray bottles and ziplok bags tho. JMHO

"...may be a product of our new generation of teachers."

In fact, likely to be so; look for the Union Label. ???

+1 with former naval person.

If this dont work, call Lee, tell them your problem. You can send it to them and they will repair it free of charge. If I use a Lee die, I use a very small amount of paste to resize. I mainly use Redding now. I do only neck sizing. I will fire approx 5-8X then I will do a full length resize. Full length resizing is too rough on the brass. JMO
