Well guys I want to start by saying my loading practice is not ISO 9000. I don't get caught up in weighing cases or bullets. Hell I don't even measure off the ogive. I don't clean brass often. I like to neck size and run it after the first firing of the brass. I'll go as long as I can without trimming. I want to shoot not spend time at the loading bench. So here is how I just worked up my latest load for a new tube on a Surgeon in 308

I've been messing with an app to let me post this stuff from my iPhone. Seems to work pretty good. I hope it gets me putting up more stuff.
Let me know what you guys think.
I'm pretty happy with how fast these 155s are going

Re: 308 Load Development

I shot RL-15 and 155L for years in an AI and others 46.1 and 46.4 lapua case. One thing as the temps. warm up so will the preasure, in cool temps 2940 in hot weather over 3000 not safe. Summer in TX would have to back off, you might be aware of that all ready, but it can get spooky.

One reason I switvhed to IMR 8208xbr I can get equal to or more velocity and it is not sensitive to temp. ( I ran a test). 22" barrel 155L 2920 fps no more loose primer pockets

Some frinds also shot
Note: the .308 chamber below is tight Palma 95
308 test was 45.30g with 155.5g Berger FullBore. 27" 1:12 Hart bbl, 300 yards off bipod

2953fps avg, main group was 1.9", vertical was .58" !! No pressure signs.

Cant wait to try this with some 175/185 Bergers.

223 Ladder test .2g steps, 300yards, 80g berger vld, Lapua brass, Wolf Magnums, Krieger 1:7.7 @ 29", 7mph full value wind from 3oclock, 5 shots each from bipod

grains---avg fps---group size----notes

24.20 2932 2.25" 1.6"vert

24.40 2960 2.5" 1.6"vert

24.60 2992 2.8" 2" vert

24.80 3003 1.7" 1.1"vert - clear winner, 3 shots in 0.4"

25.00 3012 2.7" 1.4"vert

no pressure signs at all, could probably go to 3050fps if needed

my version of QuickLoad software does not have IMR 8208, but some of the forum board junkies have said to use ADI AR2206H powder for the specs...it does come out fairly close.
