I am new to suppressors and have a question. I understand that a larger bore suppressor can be used in sub calibers. I am wondering if this is true with surefire suppressors as well? If I buy one for my .308 can I use it on a .223? And if so do I get the .223 brake or the .308 for the .223? I guess the basic question is will a .308 surefire suppressor fit and function on a surefire .223 brake? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Re: .308 Surefire on .223?

I know it will work on the FA762SS. I cant say so for the other models. There is a guy from surefire here on the hide and he is very helpful with people asking question. If you don't find the answers you seek with the search engine here, Silencer talk is a great source for suppressor information as well.

Surefire's customer service is top notch. Call them and they will take care of you. Always do yourself a favor and call the manufacturer before attempting anything like this.

You can use a SureFire FA762K on 556K adaptors on the smaller caliber rifles. The same is also for the FA762SS but we have a brake that is almost the same exact specs as the mb762SSal/re only threaded 1/2 X 28. SureFire also does a military discount.

PM me for any other specific questions.

I use my 762K can on my 556 rifles. The only thing is you need to use the supplied brush to scrape out the carbon after shooting 556. If not it's hard to mount the can back on the 762K Adapter.
