308 through 338 brake

How effecient, if at all, is a .338 caliber brake going to be with a 30 caliber bullet?

I have the standard Sako .338LM brake for my TRG. I am having a .308 rebarrelled with the same M18 threads to keep my equipment standard. I figured this might be useful in the event I ever pick up something that puts me on the Gestapo BATF's list, ie, a can.

I have interest in the little bastard, but looking to see if it's necessary to upgrade from the brake I have now.

Sako uses the same brake for .338 and .308. On my TRG-22 .308, there is a 4" vertical POI change at 100 yards without the brake.

How effective is the brake on your .308? Do you have anything to compare it to?

I used a AR30 brake on a 300RUM build once which is made for .338 and .30 cal. It had virtually no recoil so I'd say it worked.

Over-bored brakes work great, even if the bullet is a "hot dog down a hallway"

I shoot a 300WM through a 338 brake. That sucker shoots easier than most 308s. Yeah, they work.
