Looking for suggestions for a Ruger American compact 308 Win pet loads. Any starting points, powder suggestions using Hornady 150 grain interlocks. Thanks in advance!

VSP had a great idea to put this up as a Sticky. Since we get SO many questions about this, this will aid everyone( esp Noobs) on a good load. Please list ALL components, twist, barrel mfgr,length, neck tension. Since we know changing any variable will alter the ultimate outcome.

I have not had a chance to shoot them yet, but here is what I am planning for this same rifle, Ruger American Compact All Weather .308 Win, 18” barrel and 1:10 twist.

Lapua Palma Brass
CCI 400
IMR-4895 36gr starting
Barnes 168 TTSX
COAL 2.7535 (book)
Looking for MV of ~2,100-2,150

My pet load in a 308 Win is Lapua LRP brass with 48.5-49.0 gr of Leverevolution OAL 2.900” using a Badlands 150 gr BD2 bullet going 2900 fps from a 20” Douglas 1:10 twist barrel. G1BC 0.515. Have used this load for African plains game and Alaskan Coastal Black Bear. Bullet penetration is 30+ inches at 200 yds and DRT kills out to 500 yds. Hunted in temps ranging from < 29-90 degrees F with no pressure issues. Burn rate of that powder is slightly slower than CFE223 and burns a lot cleaner.
