Its been suggested I shoot 160gr Barns TTSX bullets out of my beast ( WBY Mk V accumark) Won't be hunting ,just long range steel . But won't a 120grs of powder behind this bullet burn up my bbl even quicker than 300 gr Sierra MK ?

It was a deal of a life time purchase,always wanted a WBY MK V . But now looking back i wish I saved my cash and bought a 6.5 PRC.
Both cals your thinking on are both barrel burners and wallet drainers. I would do a cost comparisons of the calibers you want to shoot. I'm assuming your reloading. Which will bring the cost down for shooting. Heck just brass cost along on the weatherby will kill you wallet for a lot of 100. That dosent include bullets and 8lb of powder and dies. Just look at it as a business decision. Every new cal I'm think of shooting is a $1000 start up cost. The main qestion to myself I'm I will to support this caliber. If so go for it. If not I'll just stick to my trusty 308 for long range to 1000yds. If want to shoot farther I bring out my 300 Mag that I rarely shoot. Just some common sense thinking for you
With deal came 5 boxes of WBY Brass most NIB the rest once fired and 2 lbs of Retumbo and RCBS dies . But point well taken .
No, a heavy bullet will eat the barrel faster than a light one. But who told you to shoot a low BC bullet at long range targets?
Someone on another forum suggested it. Long range is a retaliative term . Steel at 300yds is probably what these bullets will be. I have a bunch of Sierra 250 MK to reach out farther.
