For fucks sake it's like eating a cheeseburger and taking a shit at the same time. It can be done; but why would you want to?

Wow, no drug reference, the name came from a cartoon we watched a long time ago. I have a 338 can coming, I hear they suppress 7.62 nicely, I was just curious what they sounded like on a 556 thats all. I will know soon enough.

Re: 338 can on a 556 rifle

A 338 can on a 22 is stupid. You should not shoot a rimfire caliber thru a centerfire can. They are not engineered for that carbon build up that a rimfire produces. I would not waste my time attaching a can that is worth more then the host to one another.

Re: 338 can on a 556 rifle

Yes! I knew there were Ren and Stimpy fans here. I was not gonna attempt a .22 rimfire, just 223 rem that's all. I am new to posting here, been reading posts for a long time. There are NO posts anywhere on what a 338 can does on a 556. I was not wanting to make one size fits all, but between the size of the can, and the bigger hole( .40") I think, I was just curious.

Re: 338 can on a 556 rifle

I haven't tried the .223 but I have experimented with a .338 can on my .243wssm and I was not impressed...at all.
The 30cal version was a much better fit for the .243 so IMO...the relationship between suppressor bore and bullet size would just be a bit to excessive to be pleased with the result.

Re: 338 can on a 556 rifle

I tried my .338 can on a variety of different guns and it worked great. Its especially good on the .308 but for the .223 it was still better than my .223 TAC 16. It is also heavier than the TAC 16 and changes the POI more. Point is I guess it depends on the rifle and the can. Give it a shot and see for yourself....everyone elses opinions are great but with suppressors you need to check it out yourself. We fired 3 different .223 cans on 3 identical rifles shooting the same ammo and out of 10 different people none could agree on which was quieter.

Hope that helps
