338 federal

Re: 338 federal

I have one - a trim little Ruger with a scout scope. Makes a good moderate hunting rifle for whatever. Not a lot of variety in the factory loads for it, and you don't find a box on the shelf of every wal mart. Easy to load for though - at least the Ruger has worked well with everything I have thrown at it.

While the round and rifle were a good combination for the thicker brush and shorter ranges where I lived in Bristol Bay, it isn't the best choice for the tundra of the YK Delta where I live now.

Google it, its basically a 308 necked up </div></div>
I'm not a dumb ass. I want to know stuff like ballistics and powder charge

Re: 338 federal

The .338LM and .338Fed are NIGHT and DAY different in terms of their capabilities and intended uses.

The 338Fed is a short-to-medium range hunting, brush-gun, larger game load developed by Federal in conjunction with Sako using necked up .308 Win brass. It has found some favor with hunters given that it packs a nice punch in a lightweight, short-action package and one that will fit the magazine restrictions of the semi-auto, large-bore AR platform rifles (Armalite AR-10, DPMS LR-308, etc.).

What specifically did you want to know about it aside from something like that? As for ballistics/reloading data, Google is your friend as there is a bunch of readily available info on this round already out there.

Yes, night and day difference. Like a 308 and a 300RUM, there is little to compare other than bullet selection.
