What are your favorite bullets for a TRG-42 338 Lapua with a 1:12 twist. I was looking at the sierra matchking 250 grain which when I put the stats into Millers formula I get an SG = 1.46 so it seems that these would work.

Thanks,

Paul.

Re: 338 lapua - 1:12 twist

Stick with the Sierra or Lapua 250s. You need a faster twist for the 300 grain bullets. My 1/12 twist TRG is a hammer (sub MOA) to 1000 yards with 250s, but 1-2 MOA with the 300s. I seat my bullets 0.010 off the leade (as determined by my Stoney Point tool). You will need to send a fired case to Stoney Point for them to modify, if you can't drill and tap a case yourself.

86-88grs of H-4831sc under 250 SMKs/Scenars is my go to load out to 1k+ yds in my TRG 1:12".

This is a moderate to moderate plus load. I load to the distance I intend to shoot so I don't burn my throat out prematurely.

I also like H-1000, VV-165 and VV-170.

Look at the RELOADING DEPOT up at the top of this page for load data.

I seat out to as far as I can 3.675" and use Lapua and Norma brass with Fed 215Ms.

Don't waste your money on the 300s.
