Has anyone noticed that the factory Lapua Scenar 250g HPBT ammunition appears to measure 3.602 in length instead of their specified 3.681?

I did some searching and found this on wikipedia. Can anyone confirm this?

Just finished break-in on my DTA SRS with the factory Lapua and was puzzled when I compared my measurements to the data sheet.

A problem with AWSM rifles is that .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges loaded to the C.I.P. (Commission Internationale Permanente pour l'Epreuve des Armes à Feu Portatives) maximum allowed overall length of 93.50 mm (3.681 in) do not function properly due to a lack of internal magazine length.[4] The reason for this problem is that the AWSM bolt-action is not specifically designed for the fat and long .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge. Because of this, ammunition manufacturers produce .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges that are loaded short enough (≈ 91.44 mm / 3.600 in) to fit in the AWSM magazines. As long as .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges that will fit in the magazines are used, the AWSM rifles can be used as repeating rifles instead of single shot rifles.[5] Ammunition types currently available for the .338 Lapua Magnum are FMJ, hollow point, Armour Piercing (AP) and Armour Piercing Incendiary (API).

Unless you have the newer AIAWSM, or a custom stick, the 3.681" OAL will not fit the mag length. My 09 AIAWSM has a mag length of 3.641", so I just load my to 3.600".

That confirms the wikipedia. I wonder why they state 3.681 in their specifications?

It comes from the 2006 VihtaVuori powder pamphlet. It's the COAL they give for the 250gr Scenar. They don't list the weapon other than to say it's got a 27.5" barrel.

Load as long as your magbox will allow.

I can get to about 3.675"+ in my TRG-42 mags.

It's not a fussy bullet. Even a mag length for me is about 3.620" that does'nt put it near the rifling in my factory AI barrel, yet is very accurate from 2700-2900 fps.
