338 Lapua Barrel Profile?

What profile barrel are you guys using? I have a 700 that I'm thinking about redoing into a 338. I ws thinking about a PTG bolt too, any suggestions/advice would be welcomed.

Do you want a barrel that is heavy or a pack gun. Give us a little more info please. I have a 338 RUM that has the std mag contor.

I'm not looking to go hunting with it so a heavy profile but don't think a straight taper is what I want. Some target shooting off of the terrain. I have a Cadex Chassis that I was thinking about putting it in. Either that or starting over with a Badger action if the 700 needs more work to make the Lapua work than the Badger would cost. That's the idea so far.

I have a Rock AMU contour that is a good compromise between a full bull barrel and a light hunting contour.

I have a 30" border straight taper on mine (r700 action), long and heavy to say the least especially with a can on. Does the job though.

I like the medium Palma(ish) contour of my TRG42. No need for anything heavier, as far as I'm concerned.

I have AMU or 1,000 yard on mine. Definitely NOT a pack gun (in my mind anyway).
