Do I need anything special to clean a .338 Lapua? I have .30 cal stuff but it may be too small. Are there any purpose made supplies out there such as bore and chamber brushes? i found a bore guide but that's about it.

I know this thread is super old, but hopefully someone could help me out since its on the same topic. Does anyone know where I can get a chamber brush for the lapua? I have a Savage 110BA and my brass has crud on it when I extract them. I would like a brush that I can scrub and clean the chamber and throat. Thanks

I use the Tipton Action and Chamber cleaning tool kit. The bit that works the best is the action cleaning tool. It has a little receptacle that holds cylindrical braided cotton swabs. That's what you need to get back in there and clean out the area where the lugs seat. I think I picked it up from Midway a while back for about 10 bucks.

oh and I don't do anything fancy with the solvent, just Hoppe's #9. After I've soaked it pretty good I run a dry swab or two after until clean. For lube I use a Wilson Combat Ultima-Lube white grease only on the spots of the bolt that show wear and wipe off the excess from there. I clean my guns every 500-1000 rounds whether they need it or not
