I have been helping a buddy load for his 338 norma and ran into a snag.

His Forster full length sizing die doesn’t size the neck down enough to grip a bullet(300 OTM’s)

This occurs even without expander ball.

Doing some measurements and math his brass(older norma production) is somewhat thin in neck thickness at .012 so his die sizes down to .364 and he needs .360-.361ish for a .002.

Had his necks been .014 or bigger as it is in all the cartridges I load that die would be GTG.

Is .012 neck normal on 338 Norma?

He has a lot of virgin brass so I’ll probably set him up with a bushing die to get going.

I can say for sure on the 338 norma but 300 norma runs from .015-.018" depending on the brand. I would guess its similar with the 338 as well.
