Gunsmithing 338 Norma Mag Reamer question

Hi,

PTG sent me a 338 Norma Magnum reamer labeled .2251 FB 1degree-30

I asked for a standard reamer. Is this correct?

Jimmy Sloan does. He's the cartridge designer.

Looking at my prints I would say that FB is set up for the 300 sierra match kings. That just so happens to be the bullet that the case was designed to shoot.

Then the reamer he received may not be a "standard" one. I have a PTG print that is labeled Jimmy Sloan. It has .263" free bore.

It sounds like you might have a 338 sloan magnum. That was the predecessor to the 338 norma before norma picked the design up.

Could be, it's labeled 338 Norma Mag USA Jimmy Sloan. Print #32448.

I just checked the CIP spec and it shows .2252" freebore.
