I have made up my mind to build a 338 rum I have ordered a heart 30" 1000 yd br taper barrel and I'm going to mate it up to a rem 700 action. I'm looking at shooting 300 gr smks in it unles burger comes out with a 300 gr bullet. I am looking for any kind of input on loads for this caliber and any input and experiences anyone has had with the 338 ty.

Berger does make 300 grain bullets ... and if your looking at 338s why not build a EDGE. Same thing just on a 300 Ultra case which has more capacity than the 338 RUM. Better performance ...
do some research on the EDGE and you will change your mind.

Did you get a 1-10 twist? You will want that twist for the 300gr's. The 300 SMK's and H1000 is a very popular load. Retumbo is also popular.
I'm getting around 2750fps in my edge with 300gr SMK's and a 30" barrel.
