Can someone point me in a good direction for a Complete SWS chambered in 338LM.

Im looking for Accuracy (under 1 MOA), with factory ammo, something I can put a can on, it must be rugged enough to be beaten to death and still perform.

Not looking for just one.

Thank you in advance for the help.

You must have deep pocket. You do realize that the 338 LM feeds on $7 dollar a squeeze right, if using factory ammo only? If you want something that takes a beating and still keeps ticking, then Accuracy International is your solution. I love mine. Oh yes, it's a sub MOA rifle.

Re: 338LM complete system

Pockets are real deep this time. ; )

So far I have looked at the Remington, AI, PGW, DT, and GA's stuff on line.

Any others too look at?

How accurate is your AI. Have you shot Black hills 300gr ammo in it? One guy Im working with said he could not hold the 8 ring on a NRA 600 yard target with the one he shot. That seems contrary to everything Else i have been reading.

How about Ronnie Barrets 338? anyone have data on that? He is only 4 hours from the house.

Sorry, don't mean to comment about your friend's ability to shoot, but, if he can't hold the eight ring with an AIAWSm 338 LM at 600 yards, then he needs more practice with something preferrably smaller in caliber.

The AIAWSM is very accurate. I am not going to get into a pissing contest with anyone here and say it's the most accurate. Certainly an accurate gun is one thing, but the nut behind the trigger is another story... JMHO

Re: 338LM complete system

No appolgize required ( but appreciated) Im starting to think it was the rifle as the shooter is a Umpteen national championship winner in the Comp world with a rifle. I wonder if it was an equipment issue or a ammo issue. Either way Ill be exploying ALL options.

I tried to contact Barrett today. What a weird conversation that turned into. The lady who answered the phone ( didnt catch the name) kept telling me it was a no solicitation number and on the no callist. I kept trying to tell her I wanted to talk to a sales rep. I guess they dont want to sell any rifles. Strange indeed.

Thanks for the good information so far.

Re: 338LM complete system

I dont think I have the option to shoot the Lapua. Contract is comming from Black hills.

I took a peek on your post of the group you shot with it. Looks very promising.

Re: 338LM complete system

The extra magazine length of the DTA, deep lands, you can seat the 300 grain furthest out of the powder stack with reloads, would offer the best fps increase from a .338 factory rifle. Compact, can fire offhand quickly, more accurately, with less fatigue then longer guns, one minute to swap barrels or calibers.

sr90 covered a lot of ground designing this, I'm glad i own one.

DTA w/factory 250 gr Lapua target.

270 Gr LRBT seated to 3.9+ OAL, 3.85 is recommended.

Re: 338LM complete system

There's the Desert Tactical SRS, Sako TRG42, Accuracy International AWSM, Remington MSR (have no idea f those are even sold to the public yet), Armalite AR-30, Barrett 98B, Blaser R93, Sig Sauer Tactical 2, Ashbury ASW, and the Drake Industries PGM. I'd go with the SRS though (don't have one yet but I'll have it by fall

cause of the short overall length. That and from what I've been told it's pretty damn resilient.
