375 H&H Mannlicher project

Re: 375 H&H Mannlicher project

We have tags for 5 buffalo, lion, leopard, and elephant. I'm taking one buffalo and some other plains game. You won't even buy a leopard tag in Tanzania without a 21 day hunt. The government requires it. With that comes a the rest. Best to go all out when you go. You obviously know the drill. Building rifles doesn't put me in a position to purchase a hunt of a life time like this. I'm a guest. I've spent some time with all the PH's from Tanzania Wildlife. Andries will be our main PH. We are in good hands. He is a riot. I took him out hunting for a bit while we were in TX. Hell hunting whitetail to cottontail is a blast with him. I can't imagine what Africa will be like.

The rhino won't be darted. That's next year though. I'll be getting everything I can on film for you guys.

Wow, Jered! That has come a long way since I last saw it. Very, very nice. I love the stock's grain and finish, and your logo in the checkering--I have never seen anything like it. Truly exceptional work! Is the other one finished as well? I'm sure they will bag you some memories you'll never forget.

Re: 375 H&H Mannlicher project

I finally got to take her to distance last night. I managed to keep it inside our 2.5" dot out to 400 yards. That's stupid easy at 200 but 400 yards with a Mannlicher is a different topic. Man I can't wait to get so blood on it.

Andries sent me an email last knight. He said they had to shoot a lion off the rover yesterday. Evidently his female client shot it in the foot. He put her in the rover and went in the grass. When it charge he spined it but it still managed to bite and lock onto the spare tire as the driver was hauling azzzz.

That sounds like a story out of a Capstick book and BTW rifles look amazing.

Re: 375 H&H Mannlicher project

I was lucky enough to see and feel that rifle for myself. All I have to say is the pics doesn't do it justice. There has been a lot of love put into those rifles and it shows as soon as you see it. It has to be one of the sexiest mannlicher I have ever touched. I want to see some photos of it in action with some blood on it. Jered, thank you for letting me finger f@#k it at the shop.

Re: 375 H&H Mannlicher project

Jered,

I am planning on building a 375 Ruger, using the M70 action. Would you want to share which iron sights you used on this project?

Lordy but that is one good looking Rifle!

I might have been sitting on the fence as far as Manlincher's go, but not any more. The wood is too much.....wow.

Re: 375 H&H Mannlicher project

Gonna be a heart break when the airlines lose it...or the customs confiscate it. Oh, MY! Lions and tigers and bears! When I was a kid back in the late 40's my friend and I read a lot of Robert Ruark...we were probably the only two white boys in Mississippi that spoke Swahili. Have fun! Jambo, Bwana!
