I went to the range yesterday morning to work up a 30-06 208gr A-max load and had 4 miss-fires, and a hang-fire (which happened after a 3 second delay) in 20 shots. I had just started a new lot of WLR primers the night before. I contacted Winchester today and they wanted the primers to investigate, but I wasn't going to ship them to them on my dime to them. Has anyone ever had this problem with WLR primers? I through out the primers and tossed the cases in which the problem occurred.

I would bet they had not been stored in an air tight container with desicant packs. Moisture is the number 1 cause of misfires / hang fires. It's the same with anyones primers. None are made water proof.

I store mine in the original boxes, in a zip lock bag, inside a "fat" 50 ammo can with desi-packs inside. A friend of mine just fired some last week that had been loaded for 5 years with 30 year old components except the bullets. They were newer make. Every one of them went bang and hit the target.

They were stored in a toolbox where I keep all my reloading gear, I bought them a month ago. I'll start keeping mine in a ziplock bag, and move them in the house.
