I shot these bullets Thursday over two different powders:
This load (Suggested by Greg Langelius):
52 grain Hornady HPBT Match
26 grains W748
GM205M primer
Mixed LC and PMC Mil. cases swaged and fired 1X.
2.220" coal
Actually my Daughter shot this target, her first time on the .223 and firing a centerfire rifle!
I also used 25.5 grains of Varget instead of the W748 with good results.

FIL's Remington 700 SPS Varmint likes 24.5g N530 and 52g Amax for velocity of 3340 fps.

I shoot the 40gr Vmax out of my Rem VLS using IMR4198. I must have gotten lucky either with the load, rifle or both because this thing consistently shoots tiny groups like a custom rig with zero work done to the rifle.

A couple of mine really like 40gr Ballistic Tips and AA 2015.They are a heavy barrel Remington 1 in 12 and a RRA varmint 1 in 12.

Weatherby vangard/Howa 1500 20in 1-12 w/Timney trigger (this is a must for a Howa 1500) 40gr Nosler BT 27.3grains of Benchmark 2.26 oal, 50gr. Nosler BT 25.5 grains of Benchmark 2.26 oal. Will shoot the 50's .5 but will shoot the 40's at .3 all day long.
I started out thinking the 50's would be as light as I would shoot and it shot them pretty well about what I expected from a $430 new gun but then someone suggested the 40's and it loves them. Much better results than I expected from a cheapish gun.
I have a LTR in 223 that so far won't shoot any better but I have to admit I haven't spent nearly as much time with it as I have the other.
I've never tried 40's in my 1-9 LTR my initial guess is they would blow up. Anyone try any 40's in the faster twist 223's?
