Does anyone besides Nightfore make a 40 moa base? It seems everyone is out of stock on the Nightforce except brownells. They want $150.00 where everybody else wants $114.00

You do realize there are disadvantages to offsetting your scopes too much right? Everything works best when you are looking through the center of your scope: visual clarity, tracking, etc all work best when your elevation and windage are not at their extremes. So, canted scope rails can help you get some extra elevation but you don't want to take it too far. 20MOA rails are very common, 40MOA rails not so much...there may be some reasons for this that relate to performance.

Since you didn't specifically state that you want a one-piece base, if you are open to getting a two-piece base Tac Ops offers a 40 MOA unit. I have one on my Tac Ops X-Ray 51 with a PMII 5-25X on top.

The thing about a two-piece base is that your mounting positions will be limited compared to a one-piece design. I was able to get proper eye relief with the PMII 5-25X, which can be iffy with a two-piece base because the illumination turret is tube-mounted, reducing ring location on the rear of the tube.

The <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Sniper Central Sniper Store</span></span> sells Tac Ops two-piece base sets, which come coated in Birdsong Black-T. The 40 MOA set isn't listed, but they are available through the Store.

Just curious, what application requires a 40 MOA base?

About Brownell's - If you sign up for an account with them, you get discounted pricing. Just give your occupation as gunsmith. ( aren't we all?) The discounted price is $120.

In my case, I'd like to have a zero that's less than 925 yards. The 40MOA base will give me a zero between 400 and 500 yards. I'm giving up being able to dial out to 2600 yards though.

As far as an application that <span style="font-style: italic">"requires a 40 MOA base"</span>, a S & B PMII 5-25X. To realize the full potential (i.e., "get" full travel) out of a PMII 5-25X requires a 45 MOA base (a PMII 4-16X requires a 28 MOA base). PMII tactical scopes are designed for long-range and are adjusted out-of-center at the factory by half of their total travel. This mechanical Elevation offset is mentioned in the S & B PMII manual, and drives the MOA recommendations I noted. This is common knowledge on the Hide' and among S & B users.

As far as actually being able to use the full travel (27 MILs) of the PMII 5-25X goes, I'm not even close with my X-Ray 51 (.308). The cartridge just doesn't have the horsepower, and I've never had to dial beyond the first turn at almost 1,100 yards, which is pushing it. Realistically, a .338 LM would fit the bill but its' unlikely that I'll ever own one or have anywhere to shoot that would even stretch a .338 LM's legs. I just prefer to have all the travel to play with.

Depends on the application <span style="font-style: italic">AND IF you are able to really let it stretch it's legs.</span> </div></div>
<span style="font-style: italic">Too true</span>. A friend and I used to take turns smacking rocks we milled at <.5 MOA at 942 yards with my A3 G and his HATECA gun using BH 175s', but shooting a .338 LM at 2,000+ yards is a whole different league...
