40 s&w bullets

Re: 40 s&w bullets

Wherever you can find the bullet you want to shoot in stock, honestly. I've been running the 165 grain Hornady HAP bullet, but they no longer make them. I am now switching over to the Hornady 180 grain FMJ-FP bullet, which I found at a good price and Hornady no longer makes.
I used to run the Rainer 135 grain HP bullets in my G35. They shot fine, but I wanted more weight to help knock over steel plates better. I pick up my 6K 180 grain bullets today, actually. This should last me a couple of years!

Re: 40 s&w bullets

S&S casting makes a good cast bullet Montana gold makes very nice bullets (both for plinking). If you are looking for something for self defense Gold Dot's are hard to beat.

Re: 40 s&w bullets

bayou bullets makes a good bullet that doesnt smoke heavilly and a lot of competitive shooters are starting to turn to.

I want to say thaty are made by Jerry Mikluk's brother in law

Re: 40 s&w bullets

I've loaded this caliber for almost 20 years. Yikes! Check out Midway for Nosler bullets (great price on all calibers). I personally shoot a lot of 135gr with Power Pistol. Accuracy is excellent in my S&W 4006. All recreational shooting... I enjoy shooting clay pigeons for fun. You would be suprised how many I can hit. I've hit a couple flying limes as well... Yee haw.

Re: 40 s&w bullets

+1 on Montana Gold for cheap plinkers! I also like the Rainiers! For random fun shooting I use the montana gold's, for carry load emulation I use the rainier hollow point 165's. Very close to my carry load.

Re: 40 s&w bullets

I bought a S&W 40VE for the so reason I didnt have a 40 Cal. (Being a DA revolver shooter I didnt find the trigger objectable).

Anyway I ordered a Lee 175 gr mold and with 5.4 gns of Unique it shoots like a house on fire. I havent tried very many, but the store bought jacketed bullets I've tried dont shoot near as well.

Recoil wasnt bad for the little Sigma either.

Re: 40 s&w bullets

Rainiers and Berry's is what I use. Just the cheap stuff, but I'll usually hit the gun show early on the first day to get the components I want.

Re: 40 s&w bullets

Montana Gold for jacketed stuff and Precision bullets moly coated for economy. It would depend on what your using them for and how many you plan on going through.

Re: 40 s&w bullets

I load and sell Xtreme bullets. I have loaded a lot of Berry's before I picked up 10,000 of the Xtreme and I am pretty happy with them. Using the same bullet in my 10mm loads and have found the Xtreme bullet is much more accurate than the Berry's
