What is the difference between 45 and 45 +P ammo

I have a wilson 45 and wondering ...may be a dumb question but i searched to no avail

+p is loaded hotter as in more poder charge and higher chamber pressures than recommended for anything other than good condition new firearms.

far as second question its a matter of preference and youll probably get a lot of different answers but i prefer either federal hydrashok 230 grain hollowpoints, or fmj hardball also 230 grain.

I like the Fed. Hydrashock as well (loaded in my carry gun), the Hornady TAP (red box) which is a +P, or Extreme Shock also might due well.
Just my 2 cents.

i have had excellent luck with corbon +p ammo and its way hot!!!! i cronographed some .45 165gr +p ammo at 1550 fps out of my 5 inch barreled 1911

Winchester Ranger 230g SXT (Formerly known as Black Talons) have been working well for my Department for several years. I also use the 9mm version for off duty carry. No problems in either caliber with function in any of my weapons.

USGI .45 ACP is plenty powerful. It blows up Nazi tanks!

Thanks.....wasn't sure if it would do my 1911 harm .....

and +P sounds like a home protection load

Just to be on the safe side, you may want to check your manual or call Wilson to make sure your model is rated for +p. Doesn't hurt to verify.

There is no "rating" something for +P.

If you feel the need to shoot hotter ammo, including .45 Super, it can be done with a change in recoil springs.

My cqb eats the +p and anything else...its got the spring and build from Hell..
