I enjoyed my .450B, it was accurate and reliable. I sold it when I bought my 6.8, as shooting the 6.8 was easier (less recoil), cheaper, and just as effective for hunting.
If you want a bigbore AR I think the .450B is the way to go for now though.

There's a huge difference in bullet selection between the 450 Bushmaster and the 458 Socom.
The 450 uses .452" handgun bullets and the 458 uses .458" rifle bullets.
If you're not going to hunt, the 450 ammo is much cheaper.

The Hornady ammo and bullets that are available are great, and at the velocities the .450B achieves the bullets perform very well. Also, if you're a handloader, you might want to look over at the .450B forum. The guys over there have had a lot of success resizing .458 bullets and using them.

there is plenty of support and more comming every day for the 458 socom.
sbr makes ammo as does reeds, corbon, and cnc ammo somes to mind off the top of my head . barnes makes a 300 grain ttsx and a 330 grain solid plus any bullet made for a 45-70 will work . rock river arms and sbr both have barrels avalible and brass is becoming more plentiful along with new nickle plated brass being avalible. im not sure where the lack of support is but inaccurate statements dont help people asking questions.
the big difference if you dont reload is about 9 dollars a box difference in loaded ammo . i priced 350 grain ammo from cnc ammo in benton illinois at 39.00 per 20 . hornady 450 bushmaster is 30.00. If you reload then all bets are off.
In the end there is not really enough difference to make a hill of beans either way . the 450 bushmaster , 458 socom and 50 beowulf are 200 yd effective range rifles that toss a big hunk of lead down range . pick your poison and have fun .

With the chevron zeroed at 150 yards ,the top of the red line under the chevron is a 250 yard zero. I have not shot it any farther than 250 yards, but its a 10 inch drop from 150 to 250 yards, with the hornady 250 gr. ftx bullet at 2250 fps.
The rifle is moa all day at 150 yards, have got alot of 3/4 moa 5 shot groups with it, but I would say moa is good enough.
I replaced the bushmaster battle trigger with a RRA match 2 stage.

thanks for the info . I have a ta31f on my colt 6940 and love it . I have thought about mounting it on my 458 socom just for fun and see if I can get any legitimate hold overs with the bullet drop compensator . Im running remington 300 grain hollow points at an average of 1950 fps and with a 100 yd zero I drop 10.5 inches at 200
