I've decided to put a .458 SOCOM upper together. I've spoken to barrel makers and that doesn't seem like it will be a problem. My question is this, Can any members give me advice on whether I should go carbine of mid length for my gas system? I prefer the mid for a .223 gun, but have never even fired a .458 so I don't have any frame of reference. It's going to be a 14.5" 1/14 barrel with fixed muzzle brake to make 16" barrel length. I see that RRA offers both carbine and mid. Maybe some members with .458's can help me here?
