Re: 460 s&w reloading data

Nice gun. I loaded .460 for a while, but never did get the the velocities published by Hodgdon. Even at max charge I was over 100 fps slower than published data. Factory ammo performed as advertised, so it wasn't my chrono. You might do better with the longer barrel.

did you have any high pressure signs

Re: 460 s&w reloading data

Primers were very flat, but nothing else scary. I don't mind pushing a rifle a little, but to be honest I was scared to damage (or worse) the gun. It just doesn't seem sensible to me to drop a .308 charge of powder into a handgun case.

Re: 460 s&w reloading data

I was loading the 200 flex tip and 240 grain XTP Hornadys. I went to 47gr of H110 on the 200s and 49gr of H110 on the 240s. I also tried H4227 and it wasn't any better. I never did find much for data on the web other than Hodgdon's web site.

that is pretty dawm fast right on par with 300 win mag power i am curious what kind of speed guys are getting out of 20" thompson center and ruger number 1 rifles

Re: 460 s&w reloading data

i never tried the 275s but had good luck with winchester 296 with the 300gr hornadys.

one thing i found is that large rifle magnum primers worked the best.they gave a higher velocity and less signs of pressure.
