Is there such an animal? I have factory loaded ammunition that is stamped 5.56x45, but I can't find any new brass in this size. From what I gather, just use .223 brass? I know that I can shoot .223 out of a 5.56 weapon, but it's a no go as far as shooting a 5.56 out of a .223 platform. From what I can gather, this is due to the 5.56 cartridge being able to handle more pressure than a .223. Oooooops, sorry. Getting off on a little tangent here. So, is 5.56x45 new brass available and I can't find it because of the current shortage?

LC 5.56 is what youre looking for. Its out of stock most everywhere. If you search hard enough, you can probably find some.
