Have you had a chance to work with the 5.7 cases? The cases I've handled do not seem to have a lot of wall thickness, could have just been the ones I've picked up, what's been your experience?

I personally havent worked with them yet but from what i've seen the only known issues are de-priming because of the tiny case head and heavy crimp. once that is worked out they seem to do fine. the cartridge i'm looking into is a wildcat called 17 velociraptor. it's essentially a necked down cartridge with a more defined shoulder and slightly blown out case. their getting 3800ft/sec with pulled 17gr v-max's 3600ft/sec with 20gr v-max's all with only about 10gr of powder. essentially a 17hmr on steriods thats reloadable.

you can also use 4.6x30 cases which yeild a little more pressure capability/case strength.

the main flaw in the 5.6x28 case is the weapons their fired in. the blowback design firearms allow the shoulder to blow forward substantially and also require the poly coating for feeding/extraction. between the two it equates to poor brass life.

17 v-raptor cases tend to last 6-8 firings before any issues. and the 4.6x30's maybe 8-12 firings(both assuming near max loads)

Re: 5.7x28 bolt rifle

I've reloaded them a lot, they stretch like crazy but other than that they are reasonable. I wouldn't recommend loading them hot, I had a piece of brass separate in the chamber of my 5-7 pistol leaving the neck and shoulder in the gun, not so fun. But I got it out and all is well. I would recommend staying in the mid range of what the books or powder companies list for loads.
