5/8x24 6.5 Creedmoor Muzzle Brake for Tikka T3X CTR

Planning to buy a Tikka T3x CTR with SS Barrel In 6.5 Creedmoor for my hunting trip this season. Have no time to build with 3 weeks to go and hence planning to get this for this year.

Having said that - I need recommendations for a good muzzle brake in the 5/8x24 6.5 Creedmoor. I know it’s not needed but still.

Area 419 hellfire and APA little bastard are both recommended a lot. I shoot a JP recoil eliminator and a Dead Air key-mo brake and they're both great. I don't have any experience with the MDT but berything else they make is great so I wouldn't hesitate.

Good news is the 5/8x24 thread pattern is pretty standard, so take your pick.

I have the Heathen that Lowlight used to his satisfaction in the thread he did on his .260 Rem T3X. Tool-less and works great. Lots of folks like the Area 419 Hellfire on that gun. It's a newer design than the Heathen, and I'd probably try one on the next go-around.
 
I switched from a Gen2 APA to a Hellfire, and I prefer the Hellfire. Better muzzle climb mitigation and possibly a little better recoil reduction with the Hellfire. I also haven't had the Hellfire come loose at a match - the APA, not so much.
 
I had the APA Gen 2 on another gun. I prefer the Heathen just because of the tool-less design if nothing else, but I replaced the APA with the TBAC compact brake to use with one of their suppressors.
 
Dude it’s a 6.5 creed and it’s not a featherweight. Not worth putting a brake on for hunting and risking damage to your hearing. A shot with no ear pro with a brake is WAAAAAAAAY worse than no ear pro and plain muzzle. Yes ideally you should wear ear pro with either, but you can get away with a shot hear and there with a regular muzzle. Shooting a braked rifle without ear pro is just plain fucking stupid and dealing with ear pro in the woods is a pain.

Get a good brake like a APA or the like for range time, confirm the shift (if any) with brake on/off, and run your thread protector for hunting.

Or better yet get a brake that a silencer attaches to and then run a can. Best of both worlds and hearing safe. You’re not going to get a cab approved in 3 weeks though unless you’re a dealer transferring on a form 3.
