anyone know the twist rate for the 5-r in .223? I'm looking for an accurate factory gun twisted fast enough to shoot the 75-amax and 77 matchking. The SPS tactical is 1-9, I think that's borderline.

for that money maybe building one around a custom made 1 in 7 inch twist barrel might be plausible?

Yea, I'm gonna do a full build with a 1-8, or 1-7, I just want a .223 now. It may be a year before I have my custom.

Find an LTR or 700P with the 1/9 to shoot for now. Most of them will shoot with the 5R's and you will save a couple hundred $$. IMHO the 5R is too much gun to build on.

My 5R is a 1/9 for a factory rifle its pretty damn good. Went out to the range last week and it shot great a 200 & 300 yards with Black Hills 73 grain match ammo. At 600 the wind really kicked its ass. I want to try some Hornady 75 grain BTHP's

I would go with 1:8, fast enough to spin your heavy bullets and slow enough to not spin apart the lighter ones
