Hello ladies and gents,
Newish on the forum and just got my AR50A1 and wanted to know what others are doing for case prep.
I got the RCBS press with seating and full sizer die. I on resize the neck on my other brass and i was wondering if there is a neck sizing die for the 50.
Had a look on line and found an RCBS which was discontinued. What dies are there available for neck sizing 50 cals out there, what are you guys using?

Thank you very much in advance.
Jimmy

make sure you check for case head separation signs if you are starting your reloads with any milsurp brass that may have been fired from a machine gun. That ma deuce is hard on brass. Other than that I full length resize, drop into a case gauge to double check. Then it’s off for primer, powder and bullets.

You’d reload it just like you would most other bottleneck cartridges. Pretend it’s a bigger 30-06 (it really is).

Like rooster mentioned above, it depends heavily if it’s been through a MG. You will definitely be FL sizing those, along with some primer pocket decrimping most likely.

I get all my used brass from Barrett. They sell their once fired stuff used to test new guns. None listed on their website at the moment. I would call them and ask to be put on their email distribution list for notification. You really don't want ma Deuce unless you don't have another choice. Think I got 300 last time around:

You use to be able to get brand new CBC (Brazilian) brass at a good price. Little bit softer than the Winchester which I liked. But that dried up years ago. I use plain old Lee dies. I found the selection of the right press more important than the dies. Started out with the Lee press and then move to a Corbins H series press.

Add a heavy steel table to the mix. Its a must IMHO.

I am using new Hornady and PMC ammo and reloading fired through my rifle only. Anyone neck sizing these thing only or is it FL resizing all the time?

yeah I full length but haven’t loaded for it in a while. I have a lee setup and that’s just the dies my wife got me so I use them. I have only loaded once fired commercial stuff I bought and had ten Barrett match grade rounds I picked up from a buddy. Don’t shoot my 99 enough to get nit picky about sizing. I have shot it out to 1k a couple times but moved so don’t have easy access to 50 capable range anymore.

Thank you, i have a couple of places around my area with access to 1k. On the one range i go to they have matches at 1k once or twice a year and now i would like to attend. Still working up a load for the rifle though but work gets in the way.

Thank all again for your responses.

Loaded some Barnes 750 grain solid copper and some 650 FMJs on mine for plinking. Seemed to do ok with surplus 867. Only shot the reloads out to 600 and one or two at 1k but not very many.

Will post some results on Sunday after i get back. Had some really good results with factory hornady, better than with the PMC solid brass.
