I recently picked up some CBC M33 ball ammo for a pretty cheap price. Well this stuff rarely cycles the bolt all the way on my serbu bfg-50a. Most of the time it will eject the shell about 2ft away and the slide not go back far enough to grab the next round. Anyone have this problem with the CBC ammo?

Re: 50 bmg Semi-auto ammo

I have a 50A as well

I have not tried the ammo you are asking about.

Is it possible you got some of the "reduced range" ammo being produced by them? On their website they have a description of a lower power 50 BMG ammo.

I have had an issue or two with Federal XM 33C 660 gr FMJ. I think the pressure in these loads is too high. Results in stuck cases in the chamber, and damaged case rims. I will try this stuff again this winter and see if they run any better cold.

I have had great success with Freedom Munitions, I have shot around a 100 FMJ rounds from them, and had zero issues.

I have not done any hand loading, but plan to in the fairly near future.

Re: 50 bmg Semi-auto ammo

Thanks for the input, I went to the cbc website and through the pictures I can verify that they are the regular ball m33 ammo. I'll probably go ahead and order a couple boxes from freedom munitions and see if they work.

Re: 50 bmg Semi-auto ammo

glad to talk to another Serbu 50A guy.

I wish Mark Serbu would unclench his a--hole and get his website working, and lift the "dome of silence" that he keeps on his products.

I can only guess that he has had bad experiences with 'the mob' on the Net, cause, his approach to marketing is ridiculous.

Whatever....

I do really like the 50A

good luck with ammo.

Call Mark, he's easy enough to talk to if he isn't busy welding. Try PAT's reloading for some of your fifty needs. I have had good luck kwith them but I am running Marks BFG-50 bolt and not a semi.

True enough, Mark, and every person I have dealt with at the Serbu shop has been a class act. I want to make that perfectly clear.

I was just commenting on the techniques (commercial) being used by Serbu are a little "old school"

Mark is a gun builder, designer, and very talented in that regard. I believe he would be well served to find somebody equally talented in marketing/managing and allow that person, or persons to add value to his organization.

I think the 50A is a superbly executed weapon. If Mark would allow the commercial aspects of the gun business to occupy a larger portion of his concern, then, he could really reap the rewards of his products.

To be clear, I have no beef with anyone at Serbu, they have been super professional. I think everyone should have a 50 BMG. They are fun to shoot, and make me smile big.
