I have a problem with the primer feed.It got screwed up somehow.I was reloading 9mm and noticed they weren't priming.Took out primer tube and the plastic on the bottom was a little bent so I bent it back into place. When you drop primers in they fall right out of the bottom.I'm guessing I originally bent it by tightening the Top nut too much.I guess it loosened up from vibration? When there in the primer tube are they supposed to free fall or are they supposed to stay until needed?

The Dillon 550 primer feed should drop freely all the way to the bottom of the appropriate sized primer magazine tube. The little white (or colored on newer tubes) plastic fitting on the bottom just indexes primers for the primer stop pin. The primer flow is controlled by the little plastic primer stop pin that is sprung by a leaf spring mounted vertically on the primer assembly. Primers should not be coming out if you are using the correct primer tube and the primer stop pin is and leaf spring is assembled correctly.

The Dillon 550 primer tubes that are to be used in the primer magazine have a plastic end with a vertical tab to index the tube in the primer magazine. The Dillon primer pick up tubes are the only Dillon 550 tubes with holes on one end for a small clip to stop the loaded primers from coming out and on the other end a plastic cap that grips the primers during primer pickup.

Check for proper assembly and correct tube usage.

HTH!

Thank you for your quick response.I sent the tube in and twisted lightly until it seated correctly.I haven't changed nor adjusted anything.Have no clue what's going on.

Re: 550b primer tube

You're saying your primer magazine tube is installed, and indexed properly, yet primers fall out when you drop them in?

If so, your spring loaded primer stop pin is either missing broken or stuck.

I got it.Yes it was the primer mag.Wasnt in far enough.I dont know how it loosened up.Possible the primer mag nut wasn't tight and it got loose from vibration?
