Don't know about the 300 but my 308 has a very long lead. Don't remember the number, but not going to get anywhere near the lands w/o using Scotch tape to keep the bullets in the cases. No doubt lawyers were involved.

My Rem 700 LRT XCR 300WM, using 208 Amax, i measured out to 3.605 to the lands. I load to 3.59"

my 300wm 5R comes in at 3.700 useing a 208gn A-max.but I load .030 off the lands.

The Hornady OAL case gauge is nice for determining your length. I've got one a while back, really like it so far.
