Rifle Scopes 6-24-50 scope too big?

I have been looking at getting a bushnell 6-24-50 scope for ranges out to 1200 yds. Is this too much of a scope for that range? I have been doing some reading in the stickys. I came across and article that said that a scope in 3x - 17x power range better cope with the effects of mirage. Is this true? Should i try to find a scope in 15x to 17x Range for up to 1200 yards?

No. Just turn it down when you see mirage.

Not too big at all. One of the most popular models of scopes comes in 6x24, the Viper PST. Like Tikka said just turn it down if you see mirage.

Not too big and will work well for that range, as long as the overall weight of the rig is acceptable to you.
