6.5 47 lapua

I use 39.0 grins of h4350 for my dads 24" gun. I'm not sure on fps but the accuracy is there. I loaded some hornady 120 Amax and it shot one hole groups. I loaded these just for practice since he is new to the 600 line. However, I do use 40.7gns of h4350 with 130 Berger vlds. For match loads.

Im planing on use the 130gr berger vld maybe varget powder because its temp stable I would like to run them around 2800fps if possible

130gr JLK, 41.7gr H4350, BR4 primer, at OAL 2.850", 2925fps from my 26" 8-twist Hart
107gr SMK, 39.3gr RL-15, BR4 primer, at OAL 2.750", 3000fps from my 21" 9-twist Kreiger

insanely easy cartridge to load for...

My load - 40.4 H4350, 140 vld @2830 27" 8tw McGowen

My dad's load- 39.5 R17, 140 Vld @2820 27" 8tw McGowen

First load 130 VLD, CCI 450 primers and 35.3 of RL-15. I have 123's to play with but have not yet had the time to load. So far, out to only 200, it shoots extremely well, and the brass is nice and cold coming out. Did not crono yet so no data.

I'm using 40.7gr of H4350, CCI 450 and 130 VLD. Velocity is 2866 fps out of a 26" Bartlein 5R. Bullet seated at the lands. 2.140" ogive measurement with I believe a .160" freebore. Very consistent low to mid .3's. The other day for grins, I had loaded 10 using the GM205M and 10 with CCI400. The GM load pulled about a .75" and the CCI layed out a .167". At 400yds, the GM had 1.625" vertical and the CCI had .736". I believe more testing is called for.

Berger reloading data says max load for 130 vld and varget is 35.8 @ 2700 how are u guys charging 37 grns with out going boom

If you don't see pressure signs @ 35.8 increment slowly. Once you get the slightest sign of pressure. Back off. Thats probably how they are getting to 37 grs.

I just tried 38 grains of varget with a 130 berger and still no pressure signs. I think the berger reload data is very Conservative.

went up to 38.3 and my groups started to open up, so it looks like for me 38 is max while maintaining accuracy with a 130 berger.

Have seen jbailey shoot the 107 load. As long as he doesn't forget he has 100 yard dope dialed in *cough* *cough* its hella accurate @ 600 yards.

Whats the fastest powder anyone has used with the 120-123grn bullets?
My current load is 38grn RL-15 over a 123 A-max with cci 450 primers pretty much the same as most other people its doing 2850fps
Is RL-15 too fast to use with heavier bullets? 130-140 weight range?

How far are you guys running the VLD's off of the Lands?

I was gonna guess .010" for OCW work up...

Is there a big difference between running the br4 to the br450 becaus I tried the 130gn vld 37.5 gr varget load with the br4 and it sucks I only have 30 rounds down my pac nor pipe if that makes a difference

Remington 700
25" Krieger 4 grove 8 twist
AICS 1.5

I settled on 41.3 grains of H-4350 with Berger 130 Berger VLD Match and Remington 7.5 Primer and Lapua Brass.

5 shot at 110 yards

25 shot group at 1000 yards

Drop the load to 40.0 grain on a new lot of H-4350. This load was untested but still performed will at 1000 yards. This load barely went over 2800 fps. Here's the 25 shot group.
