I've been looking into rebarreling one of my savage's to create a long range rifle.

I was wanting to make it a .308 and shoot 208gr amax's but started looking at the .260 and 6.5 creedmoor with 140gr amax's. I'm not sure which i should get now. 6.5 bullets will be around 5-7 dollars cheaper for 100. But i will need to get 6.5 brass and dies. After looking at the 6.5 creedmoor I am starting to change my mind to either 308 or 260 because it seems like noone has 6.5 creedmoor brass (which also seems more expensive).

I don't really want to have to form 6.5 brass so is there anywhere that you guys know of where I can find it or if anyone has some once fired stuff for sale? because i think i'd like to try the creedmoor but im not too excited about the extreme lack of brass.

Re: 6.5 brass

Hornady makes runs of 6.5 brass. Between runs finding it can be tough. But I gave you a link to 250 (5x50), that should last as least as long as your barrel does.....

When you rebarrel, buy another 250 rounds of new brass; sounds like a plan does it not....

There is more brass out there for the 260, but the CM is way more efficient, and you should be able to get more rounds out of a CM barrel, mag length constraints are also not an issue because the case is shorter than the 308 family, 2 years ago I built a 260, today I would go with the CM.
