I already own a 6.5 Creedmoor Forster Micrometer Seating Die and I am hoping it can pull double duty seating 260 Rem for me as well. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Join contest SubscribeJust what part of the case is supported in a seating die, the neck sure is not in any die. I say he'd be fine. A lot of guys shoot a 6 comp match, I've never seen a specific seater for it.In order to load straight and concentric ammo the seater die must properly support the case during the seating process..meaning a snug fit in the seater die. If you do a little research on the dimensions of the 6.5 Creedmoor case and 260 Remington case, other than them both being 6.5 calibers they are totally different cartridges. You can’t do double duty..end of story...Ray ?
Virtually none, still a 30 deg shoulder, I do not ram and jam seating though. No seating die actually supports the neck, if that was the case, neck turning brass would almost be disasterous.Milo
I knew this could be done but havent done it myself. What is your runout like on that last combo?
Thanks.
The sleeves on both a forster mic and redding comp seating die are like chamber gauges and support the case all the way up to the shoulderJust what part of the case is supported in a seating die, the neck sure is not in any die. I seat my 2- 6XC's with a 6.5x47 and a 6x47 Lapua die, I seat 6 creed with a 6.5 creed seater, all Redding comp dies.
Throw in all sizing dies do not have the same tolerances. Look back to when sliding sleeve seaters were not around, and people still use reg seat dies, do you think most guys even screw the die down onto the case before adj the seat plug?A
